Biographical Summary
"John, baptized at Newbattle 1 April 1673. An officer in the Army, appointed to the command of the 31st Regiment 8 September 1715, which he held till his death. He was buried at Kensington 14 August 1728. He is said to have died unmarried, but on 8 December 1720 the death is noted of -- the 'Lady of Lord John Kerr, brother of the Marquess of Lothian.'"
