John Gerrit Koster

In 1910 John Koster (17 y, born in Indiana), his father Garret Koster (49, Holland), his mother Annie (43, Holland), his siblings Nicholas (20, Illinois), Flossie (18, Illinois), Grace (15, Indiana), Martha (13, Illinois) and Dina (6, Illinois) lived in Stickney [Township], just southwest of Chicago Cook County, Illinois. His father immigrated in 1881, his mother in 1880.

John G. Koster married on 7 March 1916 in Chicago at the age of 23 years to the two years younger Anna Dekker and on 22 September 1918 their son Gerald John Koster was born in Chicago.

In 1920 John G Koster (26, Indiana), his wife Arma (25, Illinois), their son Gerard (1, Illinois) and his mother-in-law Annie Dekker (59, Illinois) lived at an own home in Ward 9 of Chicago Ward 9, Cook County, Illinois.

On 1 July 1922 their daughter Florence Annette was born in Chicago.

In 1930 John G Koster (37), his wife Anna (35), his children Gerard J (11), Florence A Koster (7, Illinois), Eleanore M (5, Illinois) and his wife's mother Anna Dekker (69, Illinois) lived in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

In April 1940 John G Koster (46, adjuster [of] public utilities), his wife Anna (45), his children Gerard (21), Florence A Koster (17, clerical worker?) and Eleanore M (15)lived at an own home, worth $1500, in Ward 9 of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. They lived in 1935 in the same house.

John died before June 1960. His widow Anna died in September 1975 in the Dutch truck farmers settlement South Holland, just south of Chicago, at the age of almost 81 years.
