About John Adam Lake, (USA)

John Adam Lake was born in Riley Township, Putnam County, Ohio, to Thomas Lake and Jane Bushong. He married first Rachell Powell (1838-1880), and second Adeline St Clair Cole (1866-1963). He had many children with both Rachell and Adeline.

In the Civil War John A Lake age 22, mustered in, Aug 26, 1861; in Co. I of the 49th Ohio Infantry, at Camp Noble, Tiffin, Ohio. He was detached with the Artillery from May 1st to Dec 31st 1862 when he was captured, at the Battle of Stones River, Tennessee. He returned to company June 1863 and was mustered out with company Nov. 30, 1865; Veteran.

While born is Ohio, John eventually moved to Alabama being noted on 1900 census record in Slough Beat, Limestone County, Alabama, and finally settled in Hartselle, Morgan County.
