Note: Note: John served in the Revolutionary War under Gen. Sumner atGuilford Court House, 15 Mar 1781, and Eutaw Springs, 8 Sept1781. He was a great friend of Nathaniel Macon and they enteredthe Army at the same time. Neither one served long as they couldserve their country better in other capacities. Nathaniel Maconwas elected to the General Assemble. John, who was amanufacturer, was detached from the Army and was given a largecontract to supply the Army with hats. He continued tomanufacture hats for the government through the war.
