John Daniel Lewis

CENTRAL CITY John Daniel J.D. Lewis, 90, died at 4:10 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville.

He was born in Muhlenberg County on Sept. 21, 1917. He was a retired funeral director at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City and had served with the 30th Infantry (Old Hickory Division) during World War II. He was a member of Sacramento United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Sacramento Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Madisonville American Legion, Disabled American Veterans Association and past president of Kentucky Travelers Protective Association, Post G in Owensboro. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy, Bob and Bill Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Lewis; a son, Johnny D. (Brenda) Lewis of Lewisburg; a daughter, Kitty (Tom) Davis of Madisonville; grandchildren Kim Davis, Kris Davis, Tracey Lewis and John William Lewis; great-grandchildren Meagan Weir, Garrett Lutz, Ross Douglas Fisher, Savanna Harralson and Trevor Harralson; and his brother Clarence Lewis of Central City.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jessie Johnson officiating, assisted by Dr. Joe Leonard. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Central City. Visitation is from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sacramento United Methodist Church Building Fund.
