John Lopp

John Lopp who was born ~ 1780; probably in North Carolina. He bought land in Fountain Co. IN in 1822 where he died in 1834.He is buried in Brown Cemetery. His stone reads:"Sacred To The Memory of John Lopp, who departed this life September the 19th 1834 in the 54th year of his Age. He Lived believeing in Divine Revelation and died in the faith of his Redeemer".Probate, deed, and other Fountain Co. records indicate that his widow's name was Catherine and that his heirs were Cynthia, Catherine, Ensley, Benjamin, Susan, William, James, Nancy, Rebecca, Hamilton, Eliza, and Joseph. There is an identical stone next to John's inscribed: "Sacred To The Memory of the Reverend Andrew Lopp who departed this Life December the 27th 1829. Aged 27 Years. He Lived believeing in Divine Revelation and died in the faith of his Redeemer".I believe that Andrew was also a son.The death certificate of Joseph Lopp indicates his father was John Lopp and his mother was Catherine Byrnes. Based on census records, I believe that in 1810 John was in that part of Harrison Co, Indiana which became Floyd Co in 1819. In 1820 he was in Floyd Co. and in 1830 in Fountain Co, Indiana. Land entry records show that he bought land in Fountain Co, in 1822. The 1900 census entry for Joseph Lopp in Marshall Co, Indiana indicates that his father(John) was born in North Carolina and that his mother(Catherine) was born in South Carolina.
