John Lowell, Jr. (May 11, 1799–March 4, 1836) was a U.S. businessman, early philanthropist, and through his will, founder of the Lowell Institute.

In January 1971, a BBC production called The First Churchills was broadcast by WGBH-TV -- the first presentation by PBS Masterpiece Theatre. The program was made possible by a grant in 1836 from John Lowell, Jr. More:
