The James Register of Ships recorded that John Manning went to Virginia on the Ship, Globe of London, in 1635. He was granted 200 acres of land in 1648 for bringing four new settlers to the colony. John and Lydia were married in Norfolk in 1636. In 1669 record is found of John and Lydia Manning living on the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River in Norfolk County, VA. On April 15, 1651, John Manning was appointed constable for Southern Branch, Lower Norfolk County. He died in Norfolk County, VA.m. Lydia Richardson (b. 1617, d. 1700) born in Virginia and died in Norfolk County, Virginia at age 83; married Edward Norrington after John Manning's death.
