About John Melvin "Pop Pop" Thomas

Minister of the Gospel. Father to seven children.

Worked in forestry as a consciencious objecter to WW II, in "C.P.S." in Luray Va., then transferred to Exeter, Rhode Island, to work at a "colony" for mentally challenged. My father, John Jacob, was a young toddler here during these years. As the war ended in 1946, Pop Pop moved to New Danville, Pa, where they raised their family.

1951, moved to Homeville, Chester County.

Later lived in Chestertown, Md, 1958-1965.

When lived in West Grove, Pa., had a Newfoundland dog named Paty, that a friend gave to them.

"From our home in West Grove, we went into our retirement years, 1987. Our first 15 years are recorded in RED photograph book.

His first car was a 1940 Chevy.

Married Miriam Keener on March 4, 1943. He liked to add that theirs was the only date that was also "a command".
