John Murray

Accident 27 occurred in No. 2 shaft, Hecla mine, August 5th.
John Murray, with a party of men, was engaged laying the skip road, while another party some distance above, at the same time were putting in rollers, when by some unknown means a piece of two-inch plank fell down the shaft and struck Murray on the small of his back. He was taken to the mine hospital where he died the following day.
