About John Winfred (Wink) Neill
John W. "Wink" Neill, 84, of Bedford passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 9:05 a.m. at St. Vincent-Dunn Hospital in Bedford.
He was born October 13, 1927 in Greene County to John B. and Ruby Emily (Hunter) Neill. John married Elsie Northam on December 12, 1953 in Indianapolis and she survives.
He retired from NWSC Crane in 1995 where he worked as a boiler operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, member of the American Legion Post 33, Bedford; attended Englewood Baptist Church in Bedford, and was a member of the Concord General Baptist Church in Greene County.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years Elsie Neill of Bedford; one son John "Michael" Neill and wife Ronda of Bedford; two daughters, Susan Whitman and husband Joe of Nashville, TN and Joyce Fish of Bedford; eight grandchildren, Randy Whitman, Ryan Neill, Chris Whitman, Sarah Caleb, Casey Fish, Kirsten Fish, Claire Whitman and Aaron Fish; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother Willard Neill and wife Sally of Bloomfield; two sisters, Nadene Britton and husband Jim of Bloomfield and Annabelle Beckstein and husband Eugene of Sarasota, FL.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Warren Neill.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at Concord General Baptist Church, 2340 East Calvertville Road, Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time at the church, and burial will follow at the Calvertville Cemetery.
Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford is in charge of arrangements.
