About John Perkins

Franklin Spencer’s grandfather, John Perkins (GF), was born about 1766 at Kennebunkport, York, Maine. He married Ester Summers and they gave birth to Nicholas Summers Perkins in about 1792, at Somerset, Maryland. Ester Summers parents are Ephraim Summers (born about 1742 in England) and Elizabeth Valandingham (born about 1748 in England). John Perkins died at sea. Ephraim and Elizabeth Summers emigrated to America from England prior to 1770.

Four generations and about 90 years prior to the birth of John Perkins, Thomas Perkins and his wife Judith Gates immigrated from England and settled in the Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts area. They gave birth to Elisha Perkins on about 1656, at Topsfield. Elisha married Catherine Towne on February 23, 1680. They gave birth to Thomas Perkins on October 15, 1681, at Topsfield, Massachusetts. Thomas married Mary Wildes on November 26, 1719. They gave birth to Thomas Perkins on June 18, 1724, at Topsfield, Massachusetts. Thomas married Susanna Hovey. Thomas and Susanna are the parents of John Perkins who was born at Kennebunkport, Maine.
