About John Phillips, of Dedham

Do not confuse him with John Phillips, of Dorchester & Boston. He was not the man who died 16 December 1682 at Boston.

According to Richard Ripley whose information is often questionable, John Phillips was baptized on 25-Mar-1602 at Theekingham (cum Stow Green), London, Middlesex, England, son of John Phillips and Amy Leeming. In earlier versions of Ripley's information he was the son of Christopher Phillips and Agnes Abram.

John married Mary Street, daughter of Thomas Street and Mercy Freebody, on 24-Aug-1620 at Shermanbury, Sussex, England. John married Mary Ruth Gerrard, daughter of Richard Gerrard and Elizabeth Dutton, circa 1630 at Marshfield, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.

He and Mary Street immigrated in 1630; in the Winthrop Fleet with two children, Mary and John.
