22. At the Atlantic Mine, July 3rd, John Pyhaluoto was killed. Pyhaluoto and his fellow workmen were filling a car with rock in the 16th level north of No. 1 shaft, when a large piece of vein rock fell from the breast of the stope, striking Pyhaluoto on the head, killing him instantly. An inquest was held be fore Justice Brand of Houghton, the jury rendering the following verdict : "That the said John Pyhaluoto came to his death by a piece of vein rock acci dentally falling upon him in the 16th level north of No. 1 shaft, Atlantic Mine, on the 3rd day of July, 1896.
