JOHN HENRY REISWIG was born December 31, 1873 in Bellachwesch, Russia, and died April 02, 1929 in Gray, Beaver, Ok. He married SARAH SEIBEL December 02, 1894 in Hillsboro, Marion, Ks, daughter of CHRISTOF SEIBEL and CHARLOTTE RUSBACH.
In 1918 the John Reiswig family moved to Hooker, Oklahoma where they stayed a year, near the cousins of the Daniel Reiswig family. They then moved to Balko, Beaver County, Oklahoma in July of 1919 or 1920, where they bought a place 2 and a half miles south and a half mile west of the old Mennonite Brethren church-site. Here John farmed wheat and milk cows. Three of the children came down with diphtheria--Ervin, Louise and Leah. Ervin and Leah died about a week apart in 1921.
John came down with Bright's disease, a kidney ailment, about 10 years after moving to Balko. Shortly before his death he "admonished all his children, that they should be converted to God, in order to be ready for a blessed death." He was of the Lutheran faith. He died on April 2, 1929 at the age of 55 years, 3 months, and 1 day. he is buried in the Bethel cemetery near Balko, Oklahoma.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: May 16 2024, 19:49:03 UTC
