About John D Shultz

John D. Shultz was likely the son of Daniel and Elizabeth (White) Shultz based on DNA matches with high degrees of confidence from several of his great-granddaughters and other known descendants. However, no paper trail located to prove this.

It appears that John may have first been married to Catherine Elizabeth (McCarron) Shults and then Margaret "Maggie" J. (Van Sickle) Shultz Willey.

Obituary
Unidentified Newsclipping - 1873
SHULTS.--John Shults died at his house in New Albany, Pa., November 12, 1873, aged 72 years, ten months, and 20 days. Brother Shults was converted in August 1871, joined the Methodist Episcopal church on probation February 8, 1873, and was received into full connection on September 28. He was usually at the prayer and class-meetings, and ready to testify to the power of God to save from sin. He seldom spoke, but when he did, he expressed his gratitude to God for sparing his life for so long while in sin and rebellion against him. He was at the last prayer-meeting. He appeared to be in usual health the day he died; he came in from work at night, had family prayer, and retired in a little time, complained of a pain in the head, saying, "I am a dead man," sank down, and in one hour and a half his spirit took its flight, and we trust he rests with God. May the blessing of God rest upon his companion and children.
