About John Simonds
Andy McMahan writes:
Most family trees in the "genealogy world" agree that John is the son of Henry; however, there seems to be no consensus on who might have been his mother.
My general feeling is that, although Rebecca could have technically borne a child at 42, chances are that John was a bastard child of Henry or could have possibly been adopted (from either inside or outside the family.)
Of course, there are some folks that list John's birth date as c. 1745. If this were to be closer to the truth, then there would be a greater possibility that he was a natural born son of Henry and Rebecca.
