

John Stark, here treated, is the second son of III John Stark of Killermont The name of his mother has not been identified. He is noticed on 4 May 1704, preparing to go 'forth of the Kingdom of Scotland.' NRS: RD2/93 fol. 585 cited in the Stark Family Y-DNA Project (Report 3) It seems too that he was that younger brother of the Laird of Killermont who was admitted as a burgess and guild brother of Glasgow on 15 June 1704.
