John Byron "Buddy" Strait Jr. was the son of John B. Strait Sr. and Doris Couser Strait. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pearsall, Texas.

Buddy was survived by his wife, his father and his wife, his mother, children, grandchildren, brother and his wife, sister and her husband, nephew, and nieces.

Graveside services were at the Big Wells Cemetery.
