About John Albert Swartz
The death of John Swartz occurred at his home on north Elkhart start, Tuesday morning, after a long illness of jaundice and heart trouble. He lived alone for many years. He had been a cripple since birth. He was ambitious and worked whenever he could find work that he was able to do.
He was a member of the First Christian church and was a janitor of that church for many years.
Born November 16, 1856, at Wakarusa, he was the son of Jonas and Permelia Pitts Swartz.
Surviving are a brother, Will Swartz of Dunlap; a half-brother, Charles Grove of Wakarusa; four nieces, Mrs Jacob Jocomet of Frement, Mich, Mrs Ralph Fulks of Wakarusa, Mrs Walter Oster of Nappanee and Mrs Charles Gordon of Elkhart, and three nephews, Kenneth Kline of Wakarusa, and Russell and Charles DeLanghe of Lakeville.
Funeral services will be held at the First Christian church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 with Rev Gordon Kemble officiating. Burial in North Union cemetery.
