NOTE: Neither the 1850 nor the 1860 Census lists John in the household. However, there is a sister, Sarah, also born 1831. Was he a twin? according to The Tarleton Family, he left home in 1949.

John Gilman Webster Tarleton^ (Stilman*, William^, Stileman*, Elias^, Elias^, Richard^), born in Piermont about 1831. He left home about 1849, and Nov. 21, 1859, wrote to his sister, Sarah, from Austin, Texas, where he was working on a farm and was married.
