John's grave marker is damaged but he probably died 1876.

John was alive at the 1875 New York State Census and I would assume that he was dead by the 1880 US Census.
Although John & Lucy's grave marker is in poor condition, I believe that it shows that John died at age 76.
The 1855 New York State Census shows that John True, 55, and wife Lucy D., 54, lived at Poland, Chautauqua County, New York. Living with them were daughter Lucy E., 14; and daughter Lydia C., 11.
The 1860 US Census shows that John True, 60, and (wife) Lucy, 59, lived at Poland, Chautauqua County, New York. Living with them were (daughter) Lucy E., 19; and (daughter) Lydia C., 16.
The 1865 New York State Census Agricultural Statistics shows that John True lived at Poland, Chautauqua County, New York. The Agricultural Statistics does not show the name of all family members but only shows the "Name of owner, agent, managers of farm."
The 1870 US Census shows that John True, 70, and (wife) Lucy D. True, 69, lived at Poland, Chautauqua County, New York. Living with them were (son-in-law) John W. Pease, 36; and (daughter) Lucy Pease, 29.
The 1875 NY State Census shows that widower John True, 75, lived at Poland, Chautauqua County, New York. Living with him were daughter Lucy E. Pease, 34; and son-in-law John W. Pease, 41.
The 1880 US Census shows that J. W. Pease, 46, and wife Lucy E. Pease, 39, lived at Poland, Chautauqua County, New York. Living with them were adopted son Augustus Helling(sp), 14; and adopted daughter Lotti
