John, son of Edmond E. and Mary Abigail Swiger Whiteman, died pulmonary edema and carcinoma of the prostate at 89 years, 8 months, 13 days of age.

John married Virginia Ann Dye, daughter of George W. and Harriet E. Holiday Dye, in Harrison County o 13 Feb 1868. Their children were the following: Harriet Samantha (b. 1 Jan 1869 - 30 Sep 1958) Mary Savannah (b. 8 May 1870 - d. 5 Jun 1900) ---Mary married Porter Lyon on 29 Dec 1889. ---They both died in Wallace, ---but as of May 2011, I have been unable ---to find their burial location. Templeton Silas (b. 15 Feb 1872 - d. 10 Feb 1939) Bertha (b. 24 Feb 1876) Ira N. (b. 8 May 1880) Thomas Frederick (b. 11 Feb 1882 - d. 12 Mar 1931) Boyd (b. 10 Nov 1890 - d. 10 Nov 1890)

Virginia was born about 1849 in Harrison County and died in Wilsonburg on 1 Aug 1916. Unfortunately, no record of her place of burial is available.

John married Henrietta Jane Rhodes o 4 Jan 1921. She was born 19 Sep 1871 and died in Clarksburg on 27 Feb 1940. She is buried in the IOOF Cemetery, O'Neil, Harrison County.
