About John Wilcoxon

"1778 List of Rowan County men whose property faced confiscation, even though records do not show that property was actually taken: George Wilcockson, John Wilcockson. 1778 Register of persons in Captain Johnston's District who neglected or refused to appear before the Justice of their respective districts and take oat of affirmation. His birth was estimated at 1720 probably near Chester County, Pennsylvania. He died before 29 May 1742 when the Exeter Meeting house noted "Sarah Boone" married out of unity with friends. His death recorded 26 February 1798 in North Carolina Daughters of American Revolution records. No will found."

On May 29, 1742 in Exeter, Berks County, PA, John married Sarah "Sally" Boone, eldest daughter of Squire Edward Boone and Sarah Jarman-Morgan and sister of famous Frontiersman, Daniel Boone. John was not a Quaker and was considered to be a "Worldling" by the Friends of Chalfont, New Britain, Colony of Pennsylvania; hence, he and Sarah married "Out of Unity with Friends" - the first offense of this kind.
