About John Wood, Dr
A younger brother of Governor James Wood.
Said to have married Susannah Baker, daughter of John Baker and Judith Wood, who was said to be a cousin of his; but there was also at least one unrelated Wood(s) family in the area, and there is much uncertainty regarding Susannah, exactly whom she married, and whether this John Wood married anyone at all. (He does not seem to have left any descendants.)
He was certainly no longer in the area, and maybe no longer alive, by 1770, when Mary Wood made over to her youngest son Robert the property now known as "Glen Burnie", with a clause allowing her to remain in residence for her lifetime (she died in 1798).
Believed by some sources to be the son of Col. James Wood and the brother of Governor James Wood, of Winchester, VA.
But there were other Wood families in the area that were related less closely or not at all. And "John Wood" is a very common name.
