John Emery Yoder

Gospel Herald - Volume XLVII , Number 26 - June 29, 1954 ­ page 621, 622, 623 Yoder, John Emery, son of Noah and Terace (Stutzman) Yoder, was born in Howard Co., Ind., May 10, 1882; passed away at this home May 7, 1954; aged 71 y. 11 m. 27 d. In 1901 he moved from Howard County with his parents to Fairview, Mich., where he lived most of his life. He was one of the charter members of the Fairview Mennonite Church and was a faithful member at the time of his death. On May 13, 1906, he was united in marriage to Lizzie Troyer. To this union were born 8 children. His wife, 2 sons, and 2 daughters preceded him in death. There remain to mourn his departure 4 daughters (Mabel-Mrs. Marion Barker, of Saginaw; Mary-Mrs. Benton Barker, of Fairview; Leah-Mrs. Orin Fox, of Mio; and Clara-Mrs. Elam Newhouser, of Ashley), 11 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. His twin brother (Chris) preceded him in death Feb. 25, 1954. Funeral services were held at the Fairview Mennonite Church, in charge of Harvey Handrich and Floyd Yoder, with burial in the Fairview Cemetery.
