LAKE SHORE--John P. Youd, 82, active Church and civic leader, of Lake Shore died Sunday evening at his home. He was born January 18, 1860, Spanish Fork, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Youd, who were early pioneers of Spanish Fork.
He was a pioneer of Lake Shore and had resided there since 1880. He has been very active in Church work having filled a mission for the Church in England from 1891 to 1893. He was Bishop of the Lake Shore Ward from 1912 to 1920. He married Sorene Sorensen in the Manti Temple, September 25 1889. She preceded him in death four years ago. He is survived by eleven children: Mrs. Ann E. Creer, Mrs. Florence Barney, Thomas Youd, Ivan Youd, Wilford Youd, Alice Barney, Stella Dunn and Ruby Parry, all of Lake Shore; Mrs. Nellie Haskell of Payson, Arthur S. Youd of Salt Lake and Loa Nielson of Long Beach, California. Two sisters, Mrs. Jane Measom of Lake Shore and Mrs. Alice Bellows of Spanish Fork. John was a little over six feet tall, had medium dark brown hair, blue eyes, weighed around 145 pounds, went gray early, and was still riding his horse at age 77.
