Jonas Clark was born c 1620. He married Mrs Sarah (Unknown) Clark - 1640.1 As of 1642 Jonas lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on the southerly side of South Street near its junction with Holyoke Street.2 His wife Sarah died on 20 Feb 1649 leaving him a widower. Jonas Clark married Elizabeth Clark on Saturday, 30 Jul 1650. Jonas was a mariner in his youth. The General Court Records under date of Oct 18, 1654, contain a report made by 'Mr Jonas Clarke and Mr Samuel Andrews, both well skilled in the mathematics, having had the command of ships upon several voyages, being appointed to take an observation at the northerly bounds of our Patent upon the sea-coast; etc. This report, doubtless made by two residents of Camb., is dated Oct 29, 1653; the observation was taken Oct 13, 1653.2 His wife Elizabeth died on 21 Mar 1672/73 leaving him a widower. Jonas Clark married Elizabeth Cook on Saturday, 19 Aug 1673. A Selectman.2 15 Nov 1682 was ordained Ruling Elder of the (Cambridge) Church. He held the office alone until he died.2 Jonas Clark died on 11 Jan 1699/0 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
