About Jonas Kebamosay KIng

Jonas King ( born c1838) is listed as # 1617 on the 1907 Wooster Roll where he is identified as the brother of William King # 1600. His recorded traditional name "Kebamosay" was translated on the roll as "Ground walker" but that translation requires scrutiny and comment by a person with expertise in the Anishinaabemowin language and Potawatomi culture.

Ancestry.com also identifies "Kebamosay" as the son of Beshigob and his wife Charlotte Assance. http://www.ancestry.com/genealogy/records/beshigob_161580591.

Jonas King was a resident of the District of Parry Sound, Ontario but not necessarily Parry Island Indian Reserve. There are several First Nations communities and a village called Parry Sound in the District of Parry Sound so the Wooster Roll does not identify the community where Jonas King was residing as of 1907.

In 1907 when Jonas King was age 69 he was living at Parry Sound, Ontario where he held NO rights in Canada.
