A legal notice printed in the Western NC Times on 26 Dec 1902 regarding the partitioning of Jonathan Newman's land names his survivors and heirs as AJ, GW, and Thomas Newman; Arminta and William Stepp; Elizabeth and WW Lyda; Amanda and WS Case; SA and WW Bagwell; DJ Allen; and Carrie Newman VS John K. Lankford Cornwell and her husband, John Cornwell lived north of this location about 1/4-1/2 mile on Howard Gap Road, Henderson Co., NC just across a bridge and to the left.
