Josef SAAR took over the bookstore founded by his father, Heinrich SAAR, which also specialised in selling second-hand publications etc.

He is pictured here in this evocative exlibris created for him by the graphic artist Arthur Paunzen.

The business suffered from the loss of first Heinrich and then Josef, the latter particularly an untimely death. It finally had to be liquidated, though the stocks were still of some worth when the Anschluss came in 1938 ...
