I 1939 sammen med hans søn Abram , født i Tel Aviv flygtede fra Polen til Sovjet Union, men tyskerne fandt dem og henrettede bestialsk. Joseks kone Lea født Frydman sammen med deres søn David -10 år gammel, var myrdet i Oswiecim-Auschwitz i august 1944. Ære være deres minde. Den smukke lille familie blev bestialsk myrdet af tyskerne.
