DEATH OF JOE ALEXANDER End Came Without Warning While on a Business Trip

Joseph Alexander dropped dead Friday afterncon of last week while he was on a business visit to a ranch on the highway, a short distance north of Santa Rosa. Mr. Alexander had driven out in his car, and went Into the yard to call at the Chris Near house. He was observed to fall suddenly by some men who were on the highway in front of the place. They rushed to his assistance, but be was dead when picked up. Mr. Alexander had recently experienced a little trouble with his heart, but had no thought that It was of a serious nature. He was a son of the late Cyrus Alexander, one of the earliest pioneers of Sonoma county, and born on the Alexander ranch In Alexander Valley, sixty-three years ago. he would have been sixty-four years old on August 12th of this year. He was one of ten children of whom but three are left—Tom Alexander of Alexander Valley, George Alexander of Healdsburg, and Mrs. Margaret Mulligan, who lives In Southern California. Mr. Alexander was twice married, His first wife being a sister of Mrs. E. B. Ware. One daughter was born to them, but she died when a young girt. A few years ago he was united In marriage with Miss Elisabeth Rainey of Santa Rosa, and that city has since been their home. Mr. Alexander was a man of sterling character, and was held in high esteem by ail who knew him. The funeral was held on Monday of this week in Santa Rosa, and the bcdy was buried in the Santa Rosa cemetery. Many of the old-time friends of Mr. Alexander went down from Healdsburg to attend the funeral.
