About Joseph William Bointy

Joseph William "Joe Bill" Bointy, 81 made his journey home Monday, November 9, 2020 after an extended illness. He was born January 12, 1939 to William "Bill" & Sallie Hokeah Bointy.

Joe Bill was a full blood member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma, raised in the Green Valley-Carnegie area. He was a descendant of both Chiefs Red Tipi & Stumblingbear, member of Cache Creek Methodist Church & Kiowa TiaPiah Society.

He received his education at Fort Sill Indian School, Sedan Elementary & Carnegie High where he excelled in football, basketball, track & field and baseball. Moving to Chicago, Illinois to work as a welder with different steel construction sites then occasionally working as a harvester in South Dakota & other northern states.

In 1957, he enlisted in the US Navy, pre-Vietnam era. He was a Gunners Mate on the USS Ingersoll, destroyer ship.

Honorably discharged after his first tour. He was an avid fan of the Carnegie Wildcats, OU, winter & summer Olympics. He enjoyed watching old western movies, playing bingo, pitch & parades in person & on TV. Retiring after years of being a well known American Expo mudman.

He was the lone survivor of what was famously known as "The Wrecking Crew". He enjoyed his time with "spirited" friends but loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren & great grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons:

Grandchildren: Kelsey Bonn, Keelan Donn, Levi Chebon
Great grandchildren: Karsyn, Tynsley, Kyesyn & Jacoby

He was proceeded in death by his parents, William "Bill" & Sallie Bointy; brothers: Vincent, Jack, Wallace, Daniel, R.H. "Hess" Bointy & Archie Curley. Sisters: Charlotte Doxtator, Donna Gardner, Mary Josh, Sandra Lou & baby girl Bointy, Billie Rose. Daughter Martha SallieJo Bointy, Charlie Eastman Haumpy & grandson, Warren Kane "Bearcloud" Bointy.
