Seems to be some debate about birth & death. -- Birth May 1869 is too close to brother Moses
-- if born & died same year (1869), how does he show on 1860 census.
Birth of 1859 is feasible ... and likely.

My grandfather Alfonzo Moody, his mother Maybelle Cluff was a sister to Joseph Ephraim Cluff. His genealogy record shows Joseph dying the same year he was born. So this would be 1869 and not 1859

June Adams Family records of Moses Cluff & Margaret Jane Johnson show 1869 as the death year. Joseph Ephraim Cluff is showing up on the 1860 US Census, so he couldn't have died in 1859.
