Death notice for Joseph comes from the "Courier Watchman" Sept. 15, 1904; Joseph Cochhenour an old and esteemed citizen of the country a few miles west of Waverly, died suddenly last Sunday morning, aged about 80 years. He had been in his usual health and during the early portion of the morning, he had attended to the usual chores about the farm and returned to the house to await breakfast. He was seated in a chair in the house and on being called to breakfast it was discovered that he was dead. His death no doubt resulted from heart disease. The deceased was an honest, upright man and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. Obituray next week.

On Sept. 29, 1904 his obituray read: Joseph Cochenour was born in Ross county, Ohio, April 10th, 1824, and died September 11th, 1904, and consequently, at the time of his death he was 80 years, 5 months and 1 day old. He was married to Nancy A. Ridgeway March 31st, 1850, to which union was born 11 children, 9 of whom together with the wife and mother survive him to mourn the loss of a beloved husband and father. In addition to the nine children ther were thirty-three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He resided in Pike county for fifty years or more and was esteemed as an honest man and a good citizen. The remains were buried in the cemetery at Waverly, Rev. Wallace of the Presbyterion church officiating.
