1718: Essex Co., VA, Deeds Vol. 16, pp. 51-54. December 26, 1718. A deed from William Hall to Thomas Johnson, both of King & Queen Co., for 200 acres in Essex County mentions Joseph Collins as owner of adjoining land. How Collins acquired his land in unknown. There is no deed to him of record in Essex Co. It is possible the deed was recorded in the General Court of the Colony or that, since the land was partly in King & Queen Co., it was recorded only in that county.
