Capital Times August 23, 1919:

Deerfield On Wednesday at the McFarland Lutheran church, to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march, played by Miss Lydia Berge, Miss Amy Sperle and Joseph Berge, marched to the altar to be united in marriage by Rev. R. O. Brandt. The bride wore georgette crepe over ivory satin and carried a showed bouquet of bride's roses. She wore a veil fastened on a bandeau. They were attended by Oscar Sperle, and Arthur Berge as ushers, and Miss Gea Rein and Lydia Berge as bridesmaids. Little Dora Anne Sperle acted as flower girl. After the ceremony about 65 guests, relatives and intimate friends, were invited to the home of the bride's parents, where a bountiful three course dinner was served. The newlyweds left for a wedding trip to different points, and after Sept. 1 will be at home to their many friends at Deerfield, where Mr. Berge is a mamber of the firm of the Deerfield Motor Sales Co. Our Congratulations.

Wisconsin State Journal September 4, 1942:

'Crippled' in Crash, Wife Sues Husband Suit for $10,000 was started today by Mrs. Amy Berge, Deerfield, against her husband, Joseph Berge, for damages for injuries suffered in a car accident Aug. 15, 1939, on Highway 8 in Polk county.

The accident happened when cars driven by Berge and Leonard Schuman collided. Mrs. Berge suffered a permanently crippled arm, her suit alleged.

Berge Services DEERFIELD - Funeral services for Joseph C. Berge, 59, a lifelong resident here and brother of Mrs. Knute Spilde, Madison, who died Sunday at a Madison hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. wednesday in the Lutheran church here.

The Rev. E. J. Tetlie will officiate. Burial will be in Deerfield cemetery Friends may call at the Schulz funeral home.

Mr. Berge had been the Ford dealer here for 34 years.

Also surviving are his wife, Amy, a son, Merl, Deerfield; two granddaughters; his mother, Mrs. Julia Berge; a brother, Arthur, Deerfield; and three other sisters, Mrs. Emil Thorstad and Mrs. Margaret Hagen, both Deerfield, and Mrs. Gus Aaholm, Sheboygan.
