Joseph Davis

Children of John E. Davis & Mary Hutsell:

(1) Joseph S Davis, b 1763, who was to inherit all of his father's land devised by the will after the death of his mother in 1827. His estate was appraised in Jul and an Inventory and Bill of Sale dated August,3, 1827 was recorded. He m.Peggy (unk) who was appointed administration of his estate. The 1810 census for Wythe Co. shows that they had eight children. 1796 - May 18: Joseph Davis was listed as a son of John Davis in John's will that was proven Sep. 14, 1787. John bequeathed to his son Joseph all his land and appurtenances and an equal part of his personal estate to be equally divided after the death of my wife between Joseph and the rest of the children [Wythe Co., VA Will Book 1, pages 90 & 91]. Joseph Davis b. 1763 and married Margaret Hays.
