Joseph Blackford Fowler

The Cadiz Record obit posted 18 Mar 1987 reads as follows:

Mr. Joe B Fowler, 86, Gracey, died at 10:30 pm Sunday, March 8, at Convington's Convalescent Center, Inc., Hopkinsville, following a short illness.

Born in Trigg County on May 18, 1900, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Rena Irene Redd Fowler. He married the former Alice Thomas on Dec. 24, 1921, who preceded him in death.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Kenneth J Fowler of Chicago, Ill., John C Fowler of Haringen, Tx., Joe B Fowler Jr. of Panama City, Fl., Maxie K Fowler of Crofton, and Lonnie H Fowler of Hopkinsville; three daughters, Mrs. Lacy (Barbara) Sholar of Hopkinsville, Mrs. J D (Martha) Wade of Julian, and Mrs. Robert K (Jean) Allen of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Maxie H Fowler of Cadiz and Roy Fowler of Morganfield; 25 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Thomas Fowler, Dec. 30, 1969; and one son, Dorris R Fowler.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday March 11, at 11 am at Goodwin Funeral Home. Rev. Don Phelps officiated and organ music was provided by Mrs. Vicky Dockery. Burial followed in Jones Cemetery.
