The Hauser or Hoosier family is a German family that has been present in Germany and North America since the 19th century. The surname Hauser or Hoosier was first found in Yorkshire, where they held a family seat from very early times and were granted lands by Duke William of Normandy, their liege Lord, for their distinguished assistance at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 A.D. ¹. The Hauser or Hoosier family was mostly involved in farming and craftsmanship ¹.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, some members of the Hauser or Hoosier family migrated to North America, where they settled in various states and provinces, such as Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee, New York, and Ontario ¹. Some of the notable Hauser or Hoosier family members include:

- John Hauser, who landed in Virginia in 1635 ¹.
- Frederich Hauser, who landed in Pennsylvania in 1727 aboard the ship "James Goodwill" ¹.
