WE have this week to record the death of one of the oldest residents of Freeman's Reach,, in the person of Mr Joseph Hibbert, which event took place at his late residence, on Friday last, after a long and painful illness. Deceased had reached the age of 70 years, and leaves a wife and grown up family, including Mrs W Campbell of George street, Windsor. He has for a considerable time been a great sufferer from an internal complaint from the effects of which he died. He had lived for the greater part of his life at Freeman's Reach, and was respected by all who knew him. The funeral took place on Sunday; leaving the house at 2.30 p.m. the cortege, which was the longest seen at Wilberforce for many years, wended its way to St John's Church of England Cemetery at Wilberforce where the interment took place. The pall-bearers were Messrs J Cannon, J Bailey, P Bushell, J Greentree, Rev W S Newton, assisted by the Rev S G Fielding, conducted the funeral service. Mr T. Collison carried out the duties of undertaker.
