About Joseph J. Hoffman
Joseph J. “Joe” Hoffman, 84, of Effingham, died at 8:35 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery with military graveside rights.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Bauer Funeral Home — Knights of Columbus rosary 6:30 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Anthony Schools or the donors choice. Online condolences may be left at bauerfh.com
Joseph was born Aug. 26, 1930 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Joseph C. and Mary Celia (Thoele) Hoffman. He married Mary Louise (Kinkelaar) on Aug. 9, 1952. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Effingham, Knights of Columbus council 665 in Effingham, American Legion Post 120 in Effingham. Joseph served with the US Marines 1951—1953 during the Korean War. Joseph was a retired farmer and DeKalb seed corn dealer.
Joseph is survived by a daughter, Patricia (James) Tegeler of Effingham; three sons, Daniel (Mary Lynn) of Effingham, Robert (Bonita) of Watson, and Gerald (Niki) of Effingham. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 11 great step-grandchildren.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
