About Joseph Knight, Jr.

"...Knight, Joseph, Jr. (1808-1866), miller, farmer, wheelwright; youngest son of Joseph Knight, Sr. Born at Halifax, Windham County, Vermont. Family moved to Chenango County, New York, the year he was born. Worked with Joseph Smith on his father’s farm in Broome County, New York. In 1829 transported Joseph and Oliver Cowdery from Harmony, Pennsylvania, to Fayette, New York, where work on the Book of Mormon was completed. Moved to Ohio and on to Missouri in 1831. Married Betsy Covert, 1832. Built the first mill used by the Church in Jackson County, Missouri; also the printing office. Among those driven from Jackson County, 1833. Later lived at Lima, Nauvoo, and Laharpe, Illinois. Bishop at Winter Quarters during Mormon exodus West. Arrived in Utah, 1851. Missionary to Moqui Indians, 1862. Died in Salt Lake City. [PJSv2]..."
