About Joseph Martin
Joseph Martin, born Nov. 25, 1855 in Cooper County, Mo., was the first child of John Martin and Elizabeth Bildheimer Martin to be born in the United States. His two brothers and three sisters who preceded him were all born in Unterhaching, Bavaria, from whence the family emigrated in 1855, arriving here just a few months before the birth of the subject of this record, whose entire life was spent in Cooper County, Mo., where he was engaged in farming in his adult life. On Nov. 12, 1877 he married Mary Anna Karm at SS. Peter and Paul's Church, Boonville, Mo. She was born Sept. 15, 1855 and died May 2, 1934. He died June 13, 1886. Both were buried in St. Martin's Cemetery near Pilot Grove, Mo. They were the parents of three sons.
Joseph Martin and Mary Anna Karm were the parents of: 1. John Robert (1880), 2. William Christopher (1882), 3. Sylvester David (1884)
