About Joseph Allen Middaugh
Joseph, born in Kentucky, moved with his parents to Illinois. At some point he moved to Missouri where he married Rebecca Jane Richards in abt. 1874. It is said they had 3 infant children before that date, all dying.
After 1874 they had 4 more children, the last being born in Cameron, Clinton County, Missouri in August 1884. It is assumed the last two children born and Rebecca died shortly after 1884, but the only record of death recorded by the county was for the last born, Laura Ethel Middaugh in August 1884.
The deaths are all assumed as there is no record of any of the deaths, not even their place of burial.
What is known, is Joseph and the two surviving children proceeded to Henry County, Missouri where he left his two daughters in the care of one or two of his brother's families, and went to Texas where he remarried and started a new family.
Until early 2000's none of his decendents had any clue of where he went. His two daughters never heard from him again. It wasn't until the early 2000's that his whereabouts was identified in Bowe, Texas where he had remarried and had a new family. The 1920 census found him and his wife in a Holly household in Seadrift, Calhoun, Texas. After that he could no longer be located. His wife died in 1938, and at that time her bio indicated Joseph had died up in Oklahoma in 1930.
Although his new family was located, it wasn't until January 2017 a copy of his death certificate was obtained right after Oklahoma opened a website in which Births & Deaths could be searched. Based on the information contained in his Certificate of Death, this burial site was found.
