About Joseph Daniel Olley
Marriage reported in the "Northern Star" of Monday 1 August 1921:
"OLLEY—TEMPERLEY. The marriage of Mr. J. D. Olley, of Horse shoe Creek, Kyogle, with Miss Grace Temperley, was celebrated at St. Stephen's Church, Hurlstone Park, Sydney, on June 30th by Rev. W. J. Edwards. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. H. S. Olley, Lismore, and the bride the second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. Temperley, formerly of Ballina. Accompanying the bridegroom were Mr. H. A. Louat as best man and Mr. H. H. Brodie as groomsman. Mr. J. E. Temperley gave away his sister, who wore a simple gown of white georg ette finished with folded satin and hand made flowers of palest pink. Her tulle veil was arranged from a point lace cap and wreath of orange blossoms, and the bouquet was of' hyacinths, carnations and sweet peas. Miss Dora Temperley, as chief bridesmaid, wore a maize georgette dress. Her posy of violets and a pearl necklet were the bridegroom's gift. Miss Madge Temperley also attended, wearing Alice blue georgette with touches of pink bouquet of pink sweet peas, and gold armlet. Rose petals and silver confetti were showered on the happy couple from a wedding bell suspended above at the conclusion of the ceremony, and Miss Fay Aisworth at the organ played the Bridal March from " Lohengrin," and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March." A reception was afterwards held at "Gerar," the home of the bride's sisters. Miss M. L. Temperley, who received the guests, wore a dress of saxe, blue taffeta, finished with cherries, and black hat, and carried a posy of red carnations. Mrs. Olley, mother of the bridegroom, wore black satin and taffeta, and carried a posy of violets. A novel idea was seen in the bride-cake of square de sign, which was surmounted by a slender silver vase containing pale pink and white sweet peas. Mr. and Mrs. Olley spent their honeymoon in Brisbane. The bride's, travelling dress was nigger brown tricotone, while her fitch fur was the bridegroom's gift."
