About Joseph Isaac Ostheim, zum Pfau
The non-Jewish sources mention Joseph and his wife Sara in 1549. After his death, his brother Simon zum Einhorn is guardian of his wife and children (Linnemeier and Kosche 1998, pp. 313-314). Joseph Goldschmidt lived with Isaak at the Einhorn until 1551. He then moved to the bakery at the Pfau which was the last house in the Judengasse. For some time he shared this house with his two sons Mosche and Elias (Dietz 1988, p. 145). In 1560 the sources mention the following people living in the Pfau: Abraham with his wife Mele, Mosche with his wife Gentlin, Helias and Sara. Avromchen, Mosche, Mele and Jentele, whom Moyse Petershagen greets in his letter of 1562, are probably sons and daughters-in-law of his brother Joseph (Linnemeier and Kosche 1998, pp. 315-316).
