Jesse, born November 8, 1709; married Beulah ___.[1][6]
Eleazer, born December 26, 1712; died February 14, 1712-13.[1][7][8]
Mercy, November 10, 1714, not listed in will.[1][9]
Elizabeth, born November 10, 1714; died unmarried, May 29, 1752, aged 37 years, 6 months, 19 days (gravestone).[1][10]
Mary, born July 30, 1718; married, March 24, 1740-1, Thaddeus Bond; not living September 4, 1744 (date will was written).[1][11][12]
Ruth, born September 1, 1721; married, November 20, 1738, Elisha Ward, at Southborough, Massachusetts.[1][13][14]
He married second, Elizabeth Robinson, in Marlborough on December 4, 1728. She died October 13, 1733, aged 48.[1][15]

He married third, Jane Corney (Corey?), of Boston, in Boston on November 14, 1734. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Thomas Foxcroft.[1][16]

Joseph Rice died in Marlborough on December 3, 1745, in his 75th year.[1][17] He is buried at Old Common Cemetery in Marlborough, where his gravestone reads:

Will And Estate

Will of Joseph Rice, September 4, 1744, proved, December 19, 1745, (he "being of advanced to a considerable degree of age") gave to wife, Jane; to son, Jesse (Executor); to daughters Elizabeth and Ruth; to granddaughter Lydia Boyd, only child of daughter Mary Bond. (Mary probably died at Sturbridge, Massachusetts, as her husband, Thaddeus Bond, was living there in 1745.[1]

Lands of Joseph Rice inventoried were 30 acres, bounded South by Hopkinton; 80 acres, bounded East by Lyscom meadow in Chauncy and middle meadow, and adjacent to Seth Rice; a Right in township No. 2, (incorporated 1759 by the name of New Marlboro) between Westfield and Sheffield, a 30 acre town right in original proprietary in Marlborough. Homestead, £2000; total valuation, £4570.[1]

Research Notes

Andrew Ward, in History of the Rice Family, cites 2 children "Mercy" and "Elizabeth" born on the same day, implying that they were twins. However, Elizabeth's Marlborough death record also lists her as "Mary" per her gravestone, so possibly Mercy, Mary and Elizabeth were the same person.
