About Joseph Santiago Longoria Chapa

Santiago LONGORIA Villarreal209 was born (date unknown). Santiago sold his interest in Porcion 94 to his brother Pedro by deed in the Archives of Camargo, according to Seabury. This is confirmed by a handwritten note left by my grandfather, Eugenio Longoria, which noted that Santiago sold his interest in the Porcion to his brother Pedro. Parents: Pedro LONGORIA Chapa and Maria Josefa VILLARREAL.

Joseph Santiago LONGORIA1453,2339 was born (date unknown). Santiago Longoria was the Original Grantee of Porcion 4 in Camargo (on the south side of the Rio Grande). Seabury indicates that there is a sale deed in the Archives of Camargo, whereby Santiago sold his interest (in Porcion 94?) to Pedro Longoria, the father of Juan Santiago Longoria. I believe Seabury has confused two different men by the name of Santiago Longoria. The Santiago who married Ana de Hinojosa was the Original Grantee of Porcion 4. The Santiago who sold his interest in Porcion 94 to his brother Pedro was not the same as the Original Grantee of Porcion 4.

I believe this may be the same Santiago Longoria who was one of the 13 original founders in 1774 of the "congregacion" named San Juan de los Esteros Hermosos about 20 miles upstream from the mouth of the Rio Grande River; the "congregacion" grew into the city known today as Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. That Santiago was married to Maria Hinojosa, and as I note for Ana de Hinojosa she was sometimes referred to as Anna Maria de Hinojosa. The ranch they founded near Matamoros was named Longoreño. Parents: Joseph LONGORIA Garcia and Maria CHAPA Benavides.

Spouse: Ana de HINOJOSA. Ana de HINOJOSA and Joseph Santiago LONGORIA were married. Children were: Alejandro LONGORIA, Francisca LONGORIA, Maria de Jesus LONGORIA, Jose Vidal LONGORIA, Juan Jose LONGORIA, Maria Rita LONGORIA, Julian LONGORIA, Luis LONGORIA.
